Levens Kitchen Launches Advent Calendar of Treats

Levens Kitchen

Levens Kitchen, the coffee shop and relaxed dining venue at Levens Hall and Gardens near Kendal, has created a novel way of working within the new Covid-19 tier arrangement for Cumbria, whilst providing locals with special culinary treats each day to Christmas Day.

The eatery, which opened in March 2019, for non-visitors to the historic home and visitors alike, has become quite a destination dining and refreshment venue for those wanting to spoil themselves with a high-quality and different experience.  To build on this and introduce more people to its unique ambience and setting, it has launched its own Advent Calendar of December offers.

These start on December 1, run to December 24 and include everything from two-for-one on pizzas, to 20 per cent off main lunch items, kids eat free offers and discounts off that favourite treat for many – a scrumptious, good old British sausage or bacon sandwich.

Suspense will surround each day’s ‘window opening’, in true Advent Calendar style.  The ‘reveal’ for each day will happen the evening before, on Levens Hall Instagram and Facebook pages, giving followers time to plan a trip out, to take advantage of the tasty offer the following day.  Some treats can be enjoyed whilst dining inside Levens Kitchen, under social distancing and Tier 2 regulations, whilst others can be taken away.  All promise to tickle the taste buds.

The Levens Kitchen Advent Calendar builds on what has become a very successful and much-appreciated takeaway service during the two UK lockdowns, with the kitchen team having become adept at creating menu items purchased in this way.  With Levens Hall located just off the A590, it has even attracted motorists who pass by regularly and want to grab a snack or refreshment en route, for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or a mid-afternoon treat.  Some are also using the takeaway option to ensure there is something tasty to serve up for dinner.

The culmination of the Advent Calendar initiative will come on December 24, when a special prize will be on offer.

Levens Kitchen’s owner, Richard Bagot, says: “The announcement of Tier 2 was not ideal for us, as we still had to cancel our planned festive lunches and dinners, made impossible as many were to be enjoyed by families from different households or by people travelling from Lancashire, now in Tier 3, once again.  Our Advent Calendar comprises an exciting way of us doing what we can, to lift spirits, provide something to look forward to and share the option to enjoy a few treats around our local resident community.

“We hope people will continue to support us, in the fantastic way they have done so far during this difficult year, and that they will follow our social media pages, to make sure they do not miss out on any of our daily Advent Calendar ‘reveals’.  Every window represents an opportunity to enjoy something special and get to know Levens Kitchen.”
