Rescue services were called out this afternoon after reports of a woman who had fallen into the the River Esk at Ravenglass.
Whitehaven and Millom Coastguard Rescue teams, a Coastguard helicopter, the fire service, St Bees RNLI, Cumbria police, the Civil Nuclear Constabulary and the ambulance service were all involved in the rescue.
They were alerted that a woman and her dog had fallen into the river and began searching up and downstream.
The woman and the dog were located separately on the riverbank, safe and well, and reunited.
