A

man has admitted robbing a 69-year-old woman of a purse which was snatched from her in central Carlisle.
Kyle Robert Crawford, 25, faced one charge at the city’s crown court this morning.
He pleaded guilty to robbing the woman of a purse and contents during an incident on November 16. This is said to have occurred outside a bank on English Street.
Crawford’s lawyer, Jeff Smith, told the court the defendant’s admission was on a formal basis – that the only violence he used was the snatch of property belonging to the victim.
She later talked in an impact statement about suffering a sore shoulder following the robbery.
Judge Peter Davies adjourned the case, and directed that a pre-sentence report giving more details about the defendant should be produced by the probation service.
Crawford, of Warwick Square, Carlisle, was remanded in custody in the meantime, and is due to be sentenced at the crown court on January 22.
