Man suffers ‘life-threatening’ injuries in road traffic accident

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic accident in which a man suffered ‘life-threatening’ injuries and left a woman in a critical condition. 

The two-car collision occurred at about 3.20pm yesterday on the A590 at Lindale Brow.  

It involved a Toyota Auris and Range Rover.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service  and the air ambulance were also at the scene.

A passenger in the Range Rover a 40-year-old man from Barrow suffered a head injury and was taken to Preston hospital.

There were no reported injuries to the driver of the Range Rover,  a 33-year-old man from Barrow.

The driver of the Toyota, a 77-year-old man from Barrow, suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to Aintree Hospital via air ambulance.

A passenger in the Toyota a woman has injuries described as critical and was taken to Preston Hospital. 

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam and was driving on the road around the time of the collision is asked to contact police on 101 or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit – [email protected] quoting log number 145 of the 23rd December 2020.
