Fire crews were called to rescue four cows trapped in a slurry pit at Troutbeck.
The incident occurred at about 11.20am on Monday, the fire service said today.
Three fire engines and the water rescue unit attended the incident at Mellfell View.
Firefighters used animal rescue gear, saw, lighting, angle grinder and farm machinery to extricate four cows from a slurry pit.
Fire crews were on the scene for over three hours.
