A major search was undertaken last night after reports that a paraglider had crashed into a South Cumbrian forest.
Cumbria police, the fire service, Kendal Mountain Rescue Team, a Coastguard helicopter, the Coastguard and Bay Rescue were all on the scene at Arnside Park.
They were called at around 4.20pm.
Two search dogs from Kendal Mountain Rescue Team and two from Lake District Mountain Rescue were deployed in the forest and teams spent several hours looking for the paraglider.
Teams were stood down at around 7.30pm after reports that a motorised paraglider, matching the description and timing of the incident, had landed safely at a nearby beach.
