Keswick petrol station’s bid to open 24 hours

Plans have been lodged for a Keswick petrol station to open for 24 hours a day.

An application has been submitted, on behalf of James Hall & Co, to the Lake District National Park Authority seeking approval for customers to be able to purchase goods at the Spar shop and fuel from on a 24-hour basis at Keswick’s High Hill Garage.

This is to be achieved by amending a condition attached to the existing planning approval to redevelop the existing petrol filling station.

A noise impact statement, undertaken on the 18th December by E3P, assessed the potential impact which the extended opening hours could have on nearby residents.

According to papers submitted to the national park planning authority, it was found that there would be “no adverse noise impact during the night time period and no adverse impact on surrounding residential amenity”.

A 24-hour cash machine already operates on site.

Customer parking is located to the side of the store and its bin store and plant area is located to the rear of the site.

Delivery times will remain, as previously granted, between the hours of 7am to 10pm, its current opening hours, the application states.
