A cyclist sustained a nasty cut to his leg after coming off his mountain bike on a forest road.

Members of Keswick mountain rescue team were called out to the incident, their second of the year, close to Beck Wythop on Tuesday morning after the ambulance service had difficulty accessing the casualty site.

While one of the mountain rescue team vehicles was being dispatched a Forestry Commission worker came across the incident and transported one of the paramedics to the injured man.

The casualty was brought down to the ambulance.

The Keswick team was on standby to support but further assistance was not required and the team returned to base.
