Young people who want to develop their own business in West Cumbria have been given a £16,000 boost.
TEGvirtual, a community interest company, based in Cumbria has been awarded over £16,000 from Cumbria Community Foundation.
TEGvirtual is run by a group of Cumbrian-based businesspeople and entrepreneurs, passionate about helping people start and grow their own business.
The impact of COVID-19 across our communities is huge, but this programme gives a lifeline to people who may be struggling and not know what the future holds.
The funding that has been received by Cumbria Community Foundation includes £10,000 from the Beverley Trust Fund and £6,976 from the Live the Dream Fund and will support 20 16 to 25-year-olds, living in Allerdale and Copeland to access the online training programme and discover how to start their own business.
Keith McMean, founder and group director of TEGvirtual, said: “The impact of COVID-19 is real and a worrying time for young people as exams are cancelled, places at university in the balance and competition for jobs or apprenticeships on the rise.
“We want to show them that there is an alternative and that running a business could be for them.
“We want to inspire future entrepreneurs giving them hope for the future and helping the local Cumbrian economy!
“We are so grateful to have received this funding and know it will have a huge impact on those 20 young people’s lives.”
