Five men – three of whom were wearing balaclavas – damaged a car in Ulverston on Friday.
Police are investigating the incident, which happened on Quebec Street, between 8pm and 10pm.
The men are believed to have left a blue Vauxhall Astra and damaged a blue Ford Fiesta.
It was also reported that the men had later returned to their vehicle and have followed the Fiesta around Ulverston and surrounding areas.
A red Skoda Fabia is also believed to have been following the Fiesta.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have sighted either cars after the time of incident.
