A 20-year-old man was delivering food and alcohol and reported to police that he was threatened by two males who made off with the delivery. The man was uninjured.

The second incident happened at around 2am  in the area of Holywell Crescent.

A 20-year-old man was forced at knifepoint to drive to a cash point and withdraw cash. The man suffered a minor facial injury.

James Varah, 22, of Grey Street, Carlisle, was charged with two counts of robbery and kidnap.

Leona Curran, 38, of Holywell Cresent, Carlisle, was charged with two counts of robbery and kidnap.

A 16-year-old from Carlisle was also charged with two counts of robbery, kidnap and threatening a person with a blade.

All three appeared at Carlisle Magistrates yesterday where they were remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on March 5.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for further witnesses and anyone who may have any CCTV and dashcam footage of the incidents.
