Eden Bridge Gardens, Carlisle

Carlisle City Council officials and police are urging witnesses to come forward following a spate of vandalism in a Carlisle park.

Eden Bridge Gardens, close to Rickerby Park, has been the recent target of anti-social behaviour.

Youths have been seen climbing the roof building on the site and areas of the site damaged, including paving slabs and the steps

There has also been reports of graffiti in adjoining areas including Bitts Park.

Carlisle City councillor Elizabeth Mallinson, portfolio holder for health and wellbeing said: “During a lockdown we need to be sticking to the rules and staying at home.

“The recent spate of vandalism at Eden Bridge Gardens is appalling and local taxpayers will need to foot the bill for the repairs.

“If anyone has witnessed any vandalism, please contact the police. We shouldn’t have to put up with this behaviour.”

Chris Blain, of Cumbria police, added: “We have been made aware of a number of issues within Rickerby Park and we will continue to patrol the area regularly.”

People are urged to call police on 101, email [email protected]  or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
