Workington MP Mark Jenkinson recently visited Silloth Port, which has just had its dock gates refurbished.
The Victorian port serves a number of Cumbrian-based businesses and its owners ABP has invested £300,000 to overhaul the gates.
He met with harbourmaster Tim Riley and Stuart Cresswell, port Mmanager.
Mr Jenkinson said: “Silloth Port is used by a number of Cumbria-based businesses to import and export goods.
“It is a fantastic asset to Silloth and I am delighted that this investment has been made.
“During my visit I also discussed a number of future investments in the port including a new weigh bridge and secure entry system.
“It is fantastic that private businesses are investing in towns in my constituency. Silloth is a town which huge potential and the port is certainly an asset for the town and the industry that it supports.’
Mr Cresswell said: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Jenkinson to our port in Silloth for a chance to showcase all the fantastic investments ABP has made in the area.
“We are committed to supporting business growth in Silloth and the wider community in Cumbria and look forward to working together in future.”
