A puppy has been swept away in the River Eden in Carlisle this afternoon.
His owner’s family has issued an urgent plea on Facebook for people to look out for the six-month-old Labrador puppy, Parker.
He was being walked by Amy Holliday’s brother Ben Allan and her niece Faye Allan when he fell in on the Stoneyholme side of the suspension bridge in Rickerby Park at around noon.
Cumbria police said: “We are asking the public not to put themselves in danger following reports received to police of people searching along the bank of the River Eden in Carlisle.
“Concerns have been raised to police by the Coastguard regarding the swollen river and the potential danger to the public.”
