An air ambulance is in attendance after a serious collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians.
Officers were called shortly before 1pm today to West Tower Street in Carlisle and have since closed the road.
The road may be closed for some time whilst investigations are conducted, a police spokesman said.
Congestion is to be expected in the area and road users are advised to plan their routes accordingly.
A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said: “We are currently in attendance in Carlisle city centre after a road traffic collision.”
