A book recounting a Lake District life will raise funds for a vital Cumbrian charity.

Tommy’s Tyale, by Tommy Coulthard, published by the Lakeland Dialect Society, will raise funds for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland.

A story about a hired lad, Tommy Coulthard and his travels, jobs and pastimes during his life.

Limited books are available and can be bought online at www.hospiceathome.co.uk or by phoning 01768 210719.

Collection from the office in Dalston can be arranged or posted if preferred.

Julie Blundell, fundraiser said: ‘We are truly thankful to Tommy for choosing the charity as his beneficiary.

“He has been a long standing supporter for many, many years and raised enormous funds when organising events such as ‘merry neets’ held with the kind support of the Hired Lad, Penrith,.

“These occasions have brought communities together socialising the traditional, Cumbrian way.

“All funds raised from this unique book will be helping to provide specialised palliative care and comfort within the home for local patients, whilst supporting their families and carers throughout difficult times.”
