A Cumbrian legal firm has pledged its support for a charity event to raise valuable funds for palliative and
end of life care services across West Cumbria.
Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors have sponsored the Scafell by Sunset event for Hospice at Home West
Cumbria and staff from the firm will also take part to tackle the highest mountain in England.
The firm is a long term supporter of the charity and have sponsored fundraising events for many years and
encouraged staff and their families to get involved.
Terri Hope, marketing manager for Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors, said: “Giving back to the community
plays a huge part in what we do at Cartmell Shepherd and we were delighted to be able to
sponsor this event.
“The team at hospice play such an important role within our community, not only for the people that they provide such crucial care to, but also their families and loved ones during the most difficult times.”
Hospice at Home West Cumbria is appealing for supporters to scale new heights and climb England’s
highest mountain to raise funds to support their cause.
Teamed with the Lakeland Mountain Guides, the charity will host a fully guided climb up Scafell Pike on the evening of Friday June 4 to enjoy the sunset and spectacular views of the Lake District, before descending under the careful guidance of the mountain guides.
Stella Walsh, event organiser said: “We’ve had a lot of interest in this new event and would like to take
this opportunity to thank our event sponsors Cartmell Shepherd for their ongoing support.
“This will be the first fundraising event we have been able to host in nearly 12 months, since the pandemic meant all our events last year had to be cancelled. We’re incredibly grateful to Cartmell Shepherd and all the
people in our communities who appreciate how difficult fundraising has been and have continued to
support us.”
Entry is £30 per person and every penny raised by participants will stay in West Cumbria to help the charity
provide their services which include palliative and end of life care, emotional support, complementary
therapies and specialist lymphoedema care.
