Picture: Keswick Fire Station:

A helicopter has been brought in to help tackle the Whinlatter wildfire to water bomb the area.

Crews were called yesterday just before noon to reports of the blaze on open ground and spent hours trying to get it under control.

Crews were still there this morning and had helicopter support to help.

The helicopter has dropped water bombs on the site of the fire to help put it out.

The fire was across an area of 500 sq m on a steep embankment and six fire engines were called to help stop the blaze spreading.
