Eden Valley Hospice has announced a new date for its 30th anniversary challenge in Nepal and needs people to join up.
The hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, said following the difficulties presented in 2020 and this year, its 12-day special event will now take place in October 2022.
Fundraisers will start at the banks of the Bhurungdi Khola River, and, over five days of trekking, ascend to Poon Hill for a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri and enjoy views of the snow-capped peaks of Annapurna and Machapuchare.
Eleanor Viney, Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw fundraising manager, said: “Along with completing an amazing challenge and providing a compassionate hand to hold for local people, fundraisers will also be able to give something back to the Nepal community.
“The first two days of the challenge will be spent assisting with basic refurbishments at a local hospice project, Hospice Nepal, in Kathmandu.
“The organisation was set up by a team of local doctors in 2000, and since then has provided free-of-charge medicines, therapies and support to those in need.”
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw will be running the trek with travel provider Different Travel, which hosts a range of charity overseas challenges ever year,.
On Tuesday May 25, the charity and travel company will be hosting a virtual information evening.
The money raised by each fundraiser taking part in the Trek Nepal and Community Project will help Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw to provide specialist care and compassion to people with life limiting illnesses, their family, friends and carers.
