A vital charity serving people in West Cumbria has been awarded more than £22,000.
Hospice at Home West Cumbria has become one of Sellafield’s Bedrock Award Stage 1 recipients, receiving a grant of £22,179.25 and business support for six months.
Bedrock forms part of the initial three-year Transforming West Cumbria social investment programme
funded through Sellafield Ltd’s social impact multiplied programme.
It focuses on promoting thriving communities by supporting sustainable activities that create self-reliance and independence.
Working in partnership with Cumbria Community Foundation, the awards will help third sector organisations
across West Cumbria build on existing strengths and encourage better planning and strategic thinking.
Julie Monk, CEO of Hospice at Home West Cumbria said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be part of this exciting new programme, which will provide opportunities for our charity to explore, review and grow
our services.
“The pandemic has been incredibly challenging for the voluntary sector, and we want to ensure our charity is in the best place possible so we can continue to deliver first-class palliative and end of life care for local people in the future”.
