Windermere Lake Cruises has hosted its first wedding celebration since lockdown – and plans more big day bliss as restrictions ease further from Monday, May 17.
Alex and Bianca Kehoe stepped aboard the traditional launch Queen of the Lake for a cruise down Windermere to mark their big day.
The couple, from London, had wanted a big wedding. But when the pandemic intervened they decided smaller could be beautiful – and celebrated their marriage than on Windermere.
Windermere Lake Cruises said it was prepared for the return of larger wedding parties with the restriction on numbers due to ease from Monday.
From then, groups of up to 30 people can attend wedding celebrations on vessels which can be hired exclusively for wedding party guests in COVID-19 secure conditions.
From June 21, at the earliest, the Government hopes to lift all remaining limits on the size of wedding parties.

Windermere Lake Cruises’ sales and marketing director Jennifer Cormack said: “We are delighted and looking forward to welcoming back wedding parties to offer them an unforgettable way to celebrate their big day.
“In line with Government advice, COVID-19 secure operating procedures at Windermere Lake Cruises remain in place to make sure all passengers travel safely.
“It will be lovely to see wedding parties enjoying the full Windermere wedding charter experience once more.”
