A new multi-million-pound hotel is set to open in the heart of the Lake District in July.

The Ro in Bowness-on-Windermere – formerly known as the Hydro Hotel – overlooks Windermere and features 87 rooms.

A statement from the owners said: “The 87 rooms feature eight different categories, from cosy to the stunning Ro Suite with lake views. All rooms have been completely renovated and feature clean lines, artistic decor and home-from-home comforts.”

The hotel will offer all day dining at Lacu at The Ro – for example breakfast will be served until 5pm for hotel guests so they never need to rush out of bed.

A spokesman said: “The cuisine will be local, honest, comfort food; sourced responsibly, seasonally and, where possible locally, but always British.

“The Ro Bar will be the perfect destination for both guests and locals, again locally sourced spirits will be on offer.”

APM Design Ltd and architect Mason Gillibrand have overhauled the internal space and main entrance, while showcasing the original features of the building.

The design takes inspiration from the lake and surrounding countryside with cool blues and turquoises complemented with accents of oranges, natural stone and traditional grey slate.

The hotel’s conference and meeting rooms, have also been given an overhaul and the six new spaces can cater for events from six to 200.
