Cher’s life story is the subject of a new musical, set to be performed in Carlisle

Pop megastar Cher’s life is the subject of a new show, set to be performed in Carlisle.

The Cher Show is packed with 35 of her biggest hits, including Turn Back Time, I Got You Babe, Strong Enough, The Shoop Shoop Song and Believe.

It will be performed at Carlisle’s Sands Centre between March 14 and March 18 2023.

The Cher Show is directed by Arlene Philips, best known for her stint as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing, and choreographed by two-time Strictly champion Oti Mabuse. Costumes have been designed by Gabriella Slade.

From a young child with big dreams, the daughter of an Armenian American truck driver, to global stardom, The Cher Show tells the story of Cher’s meteoric rise to fame.

Arlene said: “”This show will be a non-stop journey of Cher’s rollercoaster life, bringing to the audience Cher’s iconic songs, glorious dance numbers, unique costumes and her epic drama.

“Cher has been such an inspiration to so many people and this musical is going to be a celebration of everything people love about her.”

Written by Rick Elice, The Cher Show made its debut on Broadway in 2018 in a production that earned two Tony Awards.

The new production is its European premiere.
