A Carlisle man will address global leaders this week to talk about a Cumbrian scheme developed to improve people’s health and wellbeing.
Gareth Presch, founder and chief executive of the World Health Innovation Summit, member of Pope Francis Vatican COVID-19 Commission and founder of the Global Social Prescribing Alliance will attend the Global Solutions Summit in Berlin on Thursday.
The summit brings together top policymakers, business leaders and civil society representatives, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Italian Prime Minister and G20 President Mario Draghi; Antonio Guterres Secretary General, United Nations; Frans Timmermans Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, EU Commission; Olaf Scholz Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Finance, Germany and G20 Leaders.
Sharing valuable insights across multiple domains in world health, this forum will address key policy challenges faced by the G20 and other global governance congregations.
Mr Presch will moderate the implementing good health and wellbeing panel session, sharing a model developed in Cumbria that illustrates how to improve people’s health and support our healthcare services while creating new jobs.
During the session, he will launch the Global Social Prescribing Alliance’s Good Health & Wellbeing – Social Prescribing Playbook.
The playbook showcases best practices in social prescribing, and highlights shared learning that can support health systems around the world to navigate good health and wellbeing during and after the pandemic.
Mr Presch said: “It is our duty to involve everyone in society and ensure that no one is left behind so that together, we can achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.”
