Hardknott Pass is blocked between Hardknott Castle and Cockley Bridge this morning.
Cumbria police issued a statement on social media to say it was aware of a vehicle that had broken down and blocked the road.
The vehicle is due to be recovered today.
The statement added: “We are urging people not to travel on this road as it is impassable.”
