Two Cumbrian MPs have joined forces to host an event to help firms in the county learn more about exporting their goods.
John Stevenson, who represents Carlisle, and Mark Jenkinson, who represents Workington, are working alongside representatives from the
Department for International Trade to bring another Parliamentary Export Programme session to businesses in the region.
The MPs have written to businesses in their constituency that export from Cumbria to invite them to the discussion.
This is the second of three events which will focus on assisting export businesses with finding new international customers.
The event will highlight what support is available to help businesses based in the Carlisle and Workington constituency to export successfully.
It takes place on July 8 from 11am.
Mr Stevenson said: “This is an excellent opportunity for local firms to learn more about global exports and how to grow their business internationally, taking full advantage of emerging trade agreements across the world.
“I would encourage any local businesses interested in expanding their market globally to join us.”
Mr Jenkinson added: “There are a number of export businesses in the Workington constituency.
“We are very lucky to have two ports – the Port of Workington and the Port of Silloth – which are important for our export infrastructure locally.
“The Department for International Trade are keen to meet local exporters.”
