People are urged to have their says on a £15 million A595 improvement scheme.
Plans to improve the road at Grizebeck are due to be submitted later this year and Cumbria County Council wants to know what people think.
It wants to create a 1km single carriageway between Chapels and Grizebeck on the A595.
It has launched a four-week consultation, which runs until July 11.
The authority said the work will improve journey times, boost the county’s economy and create a safer and more resilient road between Barrow and West Cumbria.
If planning permission is granted, construction work is due to start next year and thenew road open by early 2024.
A planning application is due to be submitted this summer, with construction work scheduled to start in 2022 and the new road open in early 2024.
The route runs to the east of the existing A595, past properties at Dove Bank and Dove Ford, before crossing the existing A595 and creating a new junction with the A595/A5092 to the west of the existing junction.
A series of free online events will be held for people to give their feedback on:
- Wednesday June 23, from 2pm to 3.30pm
- Wednesday June 30, from 6pm to 7.30pm
- Saturday July 3, from 1pm to 2.30pm
Details on how to join these free online events can be found at www.cumbria.gov.uk/a595grizebeck/

People can give their feedback by going online at cumbria.gov.uk/a595grizebeck.
Printed feedback forms have also been distributed to local residents and can be returned free of charge to: FREEPOST CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL by Sunday July 11.
The authority said feedback received will be reviewed and changes made to the scheme where possible before the planning application is submitted.
