What should Cumbria police’s priorities be?

Cumbria’s police and crime commissioner has launched a public consultation survey, asking people what they think the police’s priorities could be.

Peter McCall says he will use feedback from survey, together with policing knowledge from the chief constable and involvement from the police and crime panel, to set the county’s policing priorities in the new Police and Crime Plan.

He said: “A large part of my role as commissioner is to hear the views and concerns from residents of Cumbria, and by completing this survey and sharing your views, you can help to influence the direction for policing in the county.

“Our focus is to fight crime and anti-social behaviour, support victims and bring offenders to justice through effective policing.”

The Police and Crime Plan will set out the policing objectives for Cumbria Constabulary for the next three years and show how the commissioner will work with partner agencies on policing strategies.

“Only by letting me know what is happening in your community can the issues be addressed,” said Mr McCall.

“The plan focuses on ‘we not they’ and I am a great believer that we all need to work together to make Cumbria an even safer place.”
