Firefighters in Carlisle have issued a warning to drivers after a car crashed into a fence and flipped onto its roof on the M6 between Carlisle and Gretna.

Crews from Carlisle West and Carlisle East fire stations attended the crash on the M6 northbound shortly after 7am this morning.

Emergency services found a vehicle had left the carriageway and hit the acoustic safety fence, flipping the vehicle onto its roof.

The driver suffered only minor/superficial injuries.

A statement from Carlisle East Community Fire Station said: “The cause is under investigation at this time so we cannot speculate as to how it occurred. We would like to take the opportunity to remind people to drive to the conditions and adhere to the legal obligations of driving at all times.”
