A Kendal pupil has been named Business Student of the Year 2020.
Business studies student Jerzy Pawlik has been honoured with an award presented by Cumbrian accountants, Lamont Pridmore.
The pupil of Kirkbie Kendal High School was named Business Student of the Year 2020 following his exceptional work in the subject.
Although originally due to receive the award last year, the events of the pandemic mean that the top student, who also goes by the name George, was presented with his trophy by Paula Scott, business development manager at Lamont Pridmore.
Paula said: “Jerzy’s teachers all speak very highly of him and his achievements in business studies and he is clearly very deserving of this award.
“As a firm, we are keen to promote the region’s up and coming business talents. Who knows, maybe one day Jerzy may be leading one of Cumbria’s top companies, which is why awards like this are important to encourage students’ achievements.”
After getting top marks at the high school, Jerzy will now be heading to Leeds University in the autumn to study economics.
Gemma McMullen, teacher of business at Kirkbie Kendal School, said: “George was an exceptional business student with a particular interest in accounting and economics.
“His academic work was focussed, very data-driven and outstanding, for which he achieved an A* in business at A-level. He is a very worthy recipient of this award as he heads off to University in September 2021.”
