Furness are top of the Cumbria League’s Premier Division after a rain-interrupted Saturday of cricket.
For while they raced to a clear-cut win at Cleator, the previous leaders Carlisle were beaten at home by Cockermouth.
Cleator were bowled-out in just 26 overs for 60 with veteran Peter Lawson (4-9) and professional Promod Maduwantha (4-24) doing the damage.
Furness didn’t hang about an in ten overs knocked off the runs for the loss of Nathan Waterston (14) with Lewis Gribbin top-scoring on 36no.
At Carlisle, after a rain interrupted innings Carlisle were restricted to 109-9 in 28 overs largely due to 35 from James Dawson. Gabriel Drimmie did best with the ball for Cockermouth, taking 4-25.
More rain meant the revised target for Cockermouth was 88 in 20 overs and made it with eight balls to spare. Alex Grainger (43no) was the key to victory, the only batsman to reach double figures in the total of 88-5.
Keswick stayed in the hunt with a comfortable win at Dalton after they had made 159-3 in 28 overs following a late start. Ben Sharp (69)and Geeth Kumara (57no) were the main contributors.
Dalton never threatened the target and were bowled-out for 65 in 22.5 overs with James McGown (3-9) and Scott McGown (3-26) the most successful Keswick bowlers.
Whitehaven’s recent good run faltered at the Playground where they were beaten by Haverigg.
The visitors were bowled-out for 131 in the 40th over with Drew Postlethwaite (52) and Tom Hawdon (27) the major contributors.
In reply Whitehaven could only manage 78 as pro Sachin Jayawardne took six wickets and Craig Armstrong claimed the other four.
Workington travelled to Millom for an early start to get back for the England game but were delayed by the rain and eventually got started on a 25-over game.
The hosts were invited to bat first and they reached 133-7 after being 10-3 early on. The recovery was largely due to 42 off 30 balls from Graeme Dawson.
He had good support from Braith Connor with 24. Matt Lowden took 2-19 from five overs.
Workington were going well with 22 from Jake Daniel, 25 from Kris Moffat and 24 from pro Jiharu Dilshan who was unluckily run out when he slipped.
At 86-3 they were well positioned to challenge Millom’s total but that rapidly became 103-9.
Ben Scott hit a defiant six in his 14 not out but in the end they were all out at 119 in the final over.
Dawson also starred with the ball and ripped the heart out of Workington’s middle order with figures of 5-0-21-4.
In the final game at Lowmoor Road hosts Wigton beat Lindal Moor by seven wickets.
