Mitchells in Cockermouth is holding a specialist sale to celebrate the Lake District.

Its first ever Summer in the Lakes sale, on Thursday July 15, will feature a host of lots from artwork and decorative items to outdoor sports and adventure equipment.

The sale catalogue includes a watercolour of Honister Pass by Albert Rosser (1899-1995), with an estimate of £100-£150 and an early 19th century watercolour of Ullswater valued at £120-£150.

A selection of decorative metalware by the Keswick School of Industrial Arts, including a pair of chambersticks among other items are also for sale.

The outdoor sports and adventure section features racing bikes including a mid- century Claud Butler racing bicycle with an estimate of £120-£150 together with a private collection of early bicycles including examples by Matchless.  Also for sale are hiking and climbing boots, skis, high quality outdoor clothing and camping equipment.

A wide selection of competitive sports memorabilia including football, horse racing and boxing is also up for auction.  A large collection of enamelled sports pin badges, including local speedway, football and rugby league, is expected to fetch in excess of £3,000 and will be sold in small groups.

Other sporting lots for sale are a  Montreal Olympics 1976 jumper with an estimate of £30-£40 and a fine collection of early 19th century boxing prints which are expected to sell for £50-£70 each.

Lots will be on view in the saleroom on Tuesday July 13 from 10am to 5pm, Wednesday July 14 from 10am to 7pm and throughout the sale.

A fully illustrated catalogue can also be viewed online at www.the-saleroom.com/Mitchells where salegoers can also register to bid live or leave automatic bids in advance.

For more information about the lots featured in the auction, call Michael Roberts on 01900 827800.
