Tickets for Workington Reds’ three pre-season home friendlies are now on sale and have already brought an enthusiastic response.

Reds have organised games against Morecambe on July 13, neighbours Carlisle United on July 17 and Lancaster City on July 31.

Chairman Dave Bowden said: “It was great to see fans back again at the ground organising their tickets.

“There was lots of enthusiasm and it was clear how much they are looking forward to coming back for the games.

“Football without fans is nothing and we had an ever spread of sales for the three games with over 150 being sold. We don’t want any congestion on match days.”

Reds, who opened their pre-season programme with a 1-0 win at Penrith on Saturday, have  now to tackle a testing series of friendlies against teams in a higher grade of football.

They start on Saturday with a trip to Berwick Rangers who will be just a week away from the start of the Scottish season opener.

Workington start their NPL season on August 14 and fully intend to be one of the best prepared and fittest teams in the competition by then.
