In conversation: Workington Reds’ Billy Barr talks team news, pre-season and Steven Rigg

Workington Reds boss Billy Barr has reforged a friendship with former Carlisle United striker Andy Preece.

The 59-year-old Preece is manager at Chorley and has been involved, with his club, on putting on a showcase event where young players have the opportunity to show off their skills to interested managers.

Billy watched a couple of training sessions and then the actual showcase event in which one or two players stood out for him.

On Saturday he watched a game between Liversidge and Chorley in which four of the players involved in the showcase session played.

Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh caught up with Billy to hear more about the showcase programme, how his team building is progressing, how the pre-season programme is going and news about Steven Rigg who was at a training session this week. You can hear their chat below:
