Police say that no serious injuries have been reported after a three-vehicle crash on the A590 but that delays are ‘inevitable’.
Officers were called shortly after 3.30pm to the incident, near Newby Bridge.
Traffic is travelling westbound is being diverted off at Cartmel junction, before rejoining at Holker. For drivers travelling eastbound, the reverse is true.
Motorists are warned to expect delays.
“Motorists are asked to avoid this area as road closures are expected to be put in place,” a statement from Cumbria Constabulary said.
