
Egremont Rangers opened their campaign in the National Conference Cumbria Region section with a 36-12 win at Barrow Island.
It gave new coach John Wells a winning start after taking over from Gary Hewer and his side were in control for long periods.
Although Island scored the first and last tries of the game Egremont were sharper throughout, although at half-time they only led 8-4.
The Egremont try scorers were Keiran Glenn (2), Toby Corrie(2), Matt Hutchins, Tom Horner and Brad Long. Billy Thompson kicked four goals.
Sam Jones and Max Moore scored the Barrow Island tries with Jones adding two goals.
It was the only game played in the Cumbria Division as Wath Brow had to call-off their game with Millom because of Covid and Askam v Kells was called-off as the hosts have withdrawn from the competition.
