Carlisle completed a miserable weekend when they lost at Furness in the semi-final of the Higson Cup.
They had started on Friday with defeat to Workington in the T20 competition and then were frustrated by rain in a dran League game against Dalton.
The only consolation was that the T20 under floodlights proved a huge success, a top money-spinner for the club with over 1,000 spectators attending.
Batting first Carlisle always found it a bit of a struggle and probably felt they were 30-odd runs shy when they closed after 45 overs on 181-9 with Marc Brown top-scoring on 64.
The city side made a good start, removing both Furness openers for 14 but from there the south Cumbrians took control and got to 181-3 in just 37 overs. Professional Promod Madawantha (75no) and Mark Daly (71no) saw them home.
In the final Furness, who currently lead the Premier Division, will meet Workington who put in another excellent teamperformance to beat Cockermouth by 36 runs at Sandair.
The Workington innings of 174-8 in 42 overs was built around the Moffat brothers. Callum made 65 and Kristian scored 35 with stand-in pro Asif Raza (3-30) and Sam Sharp (3-46) the most successful Cockermouth bowlers.
Cockermouth just never got going although skipper Gareth White opened and tried to play the sheet anchor role, being eighth out for 46.
The only real support came down the order from Sam Scully (30) and they were bowled-out for 138 with four Workington bowlers claiming two wickets apiece.
