Another big meeting is being organised tomorrow for the hound racing fraternity.
They’ve had the May Day races, the International and the Dog Produce and now comes the Festival of Hound Racing.
It’s being staged at Kirkland Leaps after the hounds had the opportunity of a lookround at a meeting there on Monday.
One of the organising committee is James McLellan and he says it’s trying to maintain the original Cock How Festival which was started in 1991 by the Wath Brow Hound Trailing Committee.
“It wasn’t run for a few years because of Covid and unavailability of Cock How but we’ve tried to revive it three years ago and want to keep it going.
“The original Festival had the first ever prize money of £1,000 in the sport and we have some good prizes on offer tomorrow, including £200 for a non-winners race which is the lowest grade we have,” said James.
