Kells A powered away in the second half to beat Seaton 32-14 in the only Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL Premier Division game.

It looked to be nicely poised at half-time with Kells A leading 16-14 but they scored 16 more unanswered points to collect the victory.

Seaton couldn’t have asked for a better start as they went 8-0 up in the first six minutes with unconverted tries by Dominic Smallwood and Ellis Nixon.

Finn McCartney cut the gap with a try for Kells but Seaton responded with a try just after the half hour mark from Calum Smith which was converted by Jon Carl Bryan.

They were still celebrating when Kells hit back with a try from Steve Nelson, converted by Dan Starkie and the game changed three minutes from the break when Nelson scored his second and Starkie converted.

Three minutes after the break Richard Marr scored an unconverted try to give them a six-point advantage.

On 58 minutes Bailey Morton crossed and after 73 minutes Ryan Starkie touched down with both tries converted by Dan Starkie.

Nelson was Kells’ man of the match with Smith picking up the award for Seaton.

For Seaton there were two notable debutants – Ellis Nixon and Hayden Holliday, both members of the club’s Under-16s squad.
