Extra train services are set to be introduced by TransPennine Express on the West Coast Mainline.

Extra train services are set to be introduced by TransPennine Express on the West Coast Mainline.

From August 16, the train company will be bringing in two additional services on the route, boosting connectivity between Glasgow, Motherwell, Lockerbie, Carlisle, Penrith, Oxenholme, Lancaster, Preston, Manchester Oxford Road, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.

Luke Gardner, long term planning timetable manager for TransPennine Express said: “We are thrilled to be able to introduce these extra services for those looking to take the train as part of their next adventure.

“We are expecting our trains on the route to and from Glasgow to be popular and wanted to introduce some extra services to accommodate this. We are looking forward to welcoming our customers onboard and I would encourage people to plan their journeys in advance and book ahead.”

Enhanced cleaning is in place on trains and at stations.

The extra services, which will be in place between Mondays and Saturdays, are as follows:

  • 9.10am Manchester Airport to Glasgow Central
  • 1.08pm Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport
