A vital West Cumbrian charity has received a generous grant of £13,000.
The Mark Benevolent Fund, the official charity of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons who are based at Mark Masons’ Hall in London, recently presented Hospice at Home West Cumbria with a cheque for £13,000.
The award has been made as part of a £1.3 million wider grant distribution to hospices across England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man in memory of HRH Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh.
Keith Hodgson, the Provincial Grand Master for Cumberland and Westmorland said: “We are absolutely delighted that the members of the Province have chosen to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
“We are all aware of the toll that the pandemic has taken on charities across the country and hope that this small gift will go some way to help enhance patient care and provide improved facilities for those in need and their families.”
Legacies and Trusts Coordinator, Kelsey Sparrow said: “It means a lot to have been nominated by the members to receive this fantastic grant, which will help us to continue providing essential specialist palliative and end of life care for local people.
“As a charity, we rely on the generosity of groups and individuals to fund nearly 80 per cent of our work. Everyone at Hospice at Home West Cumbria is very grateful for this and it will enable us to care for people during some of their most difficult times.”
The funding will support Hospice at Home West Cumbria to continue giving local people timely access to personalised high-quality palliative and end of life care.
They provide their services free of charge and for as long as necessary. With continued support from trusts like The Mark Benevolent Fund they can keep helping people when they need it most.
