A fun day for a Carlisle community has been hailed a success by organisers.
The Belah Bounce Back Fun saw around 500 people attend to watch live local band Sneaky Finch, taste the Cumbrian reared food of Lakeland Steaks and play rides for free that varied from classic teacups and bouncy castles to the fully enclosed laser maze.
Belah Conservative councillor Gareth Ellis organised the event.
He said: “It was a tremendous event, it’s often difficult to know what success is. Will it be 200 people or 300 people? At 500 in total in attendance we were blown away.
“Without the support of volunteers and the Belah centre staff we couldn’t have pulled off the best event in Belah that we can all remember for many years.
“The day was about bringing some kind of normality to the local children who have had such a difficult and unusual 18 months. It was about adults recognising that we can give something back. To see so many happy children and parents, dancing, socialising and playing together makes it all worthwhile. “
Stuart Watson, Belah Centre Manager, said: “The Belah Centre was proud to be involved with such a fantastic event! A great time was had by everyone and even the torrential downpour at the end couldn’t dampen people’s spirits.
The event took place on Sunday and was funded and supported by Carlisle City Council’s Restarting Communities fund and Cumbria County Council’s Community Grants.
