The headteacher of Keswick School said he hoped his students believed their exam grades today reflected the hard work they had put into their courses.

Simon Jackson said: “I pay tribute to our outstanding students.

“They are a conscientious, hardworking and incredibly caring group of young people and wonderful role models for our younger students.

“Over their time at Keswick School they have grown as individuals and acquired skills that I hope will help them achieve their dreams and ambitions.

The grades they have received today are the result of the national standardisation of centre-assessed grades we submitted in June.

“I hope the students believe these grades reflect their hard work throughout their courses and I congratulate them on how they have coped in these extraordinary times.

Almost every student has secured their first choice place at university, on an apprenticeship or has decided to defer for a year. We will look forward to see how they continue to develop in the future and we will always be here to support them if required.

“Their achievements are also a reflection on the dedication of our team of specialist teachers and associate staff.

“I would like to thank all our staff and parents for the way they have adapted to the unprecedented situation. It is now important that these terrific young people look forward to bright and very optimistic futures.”

Sophie French, head of sixth form, said: “I would like to offer my congratulations to all of year 13, whose successes are well-deserved.

“As importantly, though, I would like to acknowledge the determination and resilience that they demonstrated during this very unusual academic year. I wish them the very best of luck as they move on to the next stage of their lives.”
