Slender lead for Kendal bike ace Bradley Perie

Kendal bike ace Bradley Perie entered the fifth round of the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship at Donington Park in second overall place.

The qualifying session saw a red flag with eight minutes left to go and Perie took ninth position on the grid.

Saturday’s sprint race roused an epic charge from the young Cumbrian as he fought from mid-pack.

Despite a poor start his daring overtake on the final corner paid dividends as he overtook the championship leader and won the race.

Sunday’s feature race was another thriller with the safety car deployed after 15 laps.

This bunched the pack together but Perie, once again, swooped in for a late surge.

Things didn’t quite go as planned though when two other riders vied for the same overtake; all three came to grief and crashed out.

Perie and the other two top-spot contenders walked away uninjured.

The outcome is Perie takes a slender lead in the overall Championship as he enters round six at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire, next weekend.
