Carlisle firefighters have issued a warning after an “avoidable” fire that is “a drain on resources”.
A crew from Carlisle West Community Fire Station attended a fire in the open between Great Orton and Little Orton late last night.
They found a quantity of rubbish and a mattress alight which was extinguished using one hose reel.
A statement from the station posted on social media said: “These types of incidents can easily be avoided and are a drain on resources. Due to the uncertainty of the location of the fire what3words was used to accurately pinpoint the fire for control.
“Our location was: “Insert.Persuade.Forgiving”.
“If you find yourself lost in the countryside or come across an incident and need emergency assistance, the app gives you your location in the form of three words which you can pass over the phone to the excellent control room staff.”
