A man has appeared in court and admitted both making and distributing indecent images of children.
Neil Monkhouse, 36, faced a total of eight charges at Carlisle Crown Court this morning, and admitted six.
Monkhouse pleaded guilty to two charges of making indecent photographs of children between July 9 and August 2 this year.
Three of the illegal images are said to be classed in category C, and one in category B.
The most serious class is category A.
Monkhouse also admitted three counts of distributing an indecent photograph of a child — four category C images — on dates around the turn of August.
He further admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order, imposed by a crown court judge in February, 2018, by deleting photographs from a Samsung mobile phone when he was prohibited from doing so. This occurred between July 9 and August 2.
Judge Nicholas Barker adjourned the case for the preparation of a probation service pre-sentence report.
This, the court heard, would focus on the defendant’s progress and level of engagement with a previously imposed three-year community order.
Monkhouse, of Ivory Close, Carlisle, is due to be sentenced on October 5 and in the meantime he was remanded in custody.
*Monkhouse denied two further charges which had alleged the making and distribution of single category A indecent photographs of a child. No evidence was offered by the prosecution on those counts, and Judge Barker entered not guilty verdicts on both.
The court heard he was already subject to sex offender notification requirements.
