Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster is supporting the launch of a scheme to put relevant social value at the heart of new investment in the county.
The Invest in Cumbria Alliance will be launched on September 17.
Politicians, business and local government have endorsed the Invest in Cumbria Alliance as it promises to bring a completely new way of doing business to the region; by creating a
commercially desirable environment for new investors and sustainable benefits for thriving local communities.
Copeland MP Trudy Harrison said: “This is an ideal time for investors to build ties with Cumbria. The level of skills and experience in this region, particularly across the nuclear energy sector, a sector which together with renewables is set to play a significant part in our future energy security, are unparalleled.
“Cumbria is uniquely positioned to help drive the NetZero target. Equally, this region offers a fertile ground for social impact investment.
“The Invest in Cumbria Alliance will help drive the link between industry, sustainability, and social impact.
“Now is the time to get involved and I am delighted to be part of this fantastic initiative.”
The event will fly the flag for Cumbria as one of the most investable regions in the UK and will focus on fairer, greener, smarter business for a region that will play a key role in achieving
Net Zero and fostering innovation through a forward – thinking approach to investment.
Dianne Richardson, chief executive of Britain Energy Coast’s Business Cluster, said: “The launch of the Invest in Cumbria Alliance is an important step in bringing together the needs
of investors with those of the community and opens the door to transparent and constructive dialogue between these two sides which, in return will drive business and growth for
our local community as a whole.”
