No prizes for guessing which team was celebrating most after the latest round of matches in the Workington and District Sunday League.

It was Workington Junction after a 2-2 draw with Senhouse FC in Division One to register their first point in two seasons of trying.

Jack Reid and Gary Barnes scored the goals for the Junction with Scott Underwood and Chris Taylor denying them that still sought-after first win.

It was almost as close at Aspatria where Sun Athletic went down 3-2 to JJ’s as Keenan Musgrave (2) and Ryan Smith grabbed all the points for the Workington side.  Flynn Charters and Daniel Dobson were on target for the hosts.

Kyle Shelford was a hat-trick hero for Flimby with a hat-trick in their 5-2 win at Highfield. Lazo Rayner and Jacob Baker completed the Flimby tally with Dan Graham and Kyle Murray on target for Highfield.

In the Premier Division Deer Orchard collected their second win, travelling to Salterbeck and going home  with a 3-2 win, another by the odd goal after a 4-3 victory over Blue Bell..

Sam Wright (2) and Ryan Carruthers scored the Orchard goals while Charlie Shaw notched both for Salterbeck.

Sun Inn were 6-1 winners at Blue Bell as Andrew Trestianu continued his great run of scoring. A hat-trick for Aspatria on Saturday was followed by four for the Sun. Richard Hudson supplied the other two.

Josh Hogarth scored the lone consolation goal for the well-beaten hosts.

Another four-goal man was Dearham’s Steven Stoddart – a regular marksman over the years at both rugby and football.

His efforts helped Dearham to an 8-1 victory over Seaton Rangers. Ceiran Little (2), Jack Brown and Danny Dryden were also on the mark while the Rangers’ response was a solitary strike from Josh Smith.

The Premier Division clash between Glasson Gardeners and champions Northside was postponed as the hosts were unable to raise a team.

Sunday’s fixtures are: Premier Division – Deer Orchard v Dearham; Northside v Seaton Rangers; Sun Inn v Glasson Gardeners; Salterbeck v Blue Bell.

First Division- Senhouse v Highfield; Flimby SC v Maryport Athletic; JJ’s v The Junction.
