The MP for Carlisle has encouraged schools in his constituency to apply for a £1,000 grant.
John Stevenson has welcomed the news that Kelloggs this week reopened its Breakfast Club grants programme and has written to schools in the Carlisle constituency to encourage them to apply.
Kelloggs is offering grants of £1,000 to school breakfast clubs to help them provide breakfast to those children who need it most.
The grant can be used by schools to invest in any aspect of their breakfast clubs, from equipment and food to volunteer pay and learning materials. Schools can apply for a grant via www.tfaforms.com/445397.
Breakfast clubs are critical for many schools, with research by Kellogg’s finding that 60 per cent of teachers think they help children settle before class. A further 97 per cent of teachers agree on the importance of having something to eat in the morning before school, especially when getting back into routine after the summer holidays.
John said: “A healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day, particularly for children, fuelling their bodies and brains for the day ahead of activity and learning. The reopening of the breakfast club grants scheme from Kelloggs is very welcome and I would encourage every school in the constituency to apply.’
