Emergency services were called after reports that a man had been hit by a train in Barrow.
A statement from Cumbria police said: “Cumbria police were contacted shortly after 6.30pm to a report of a man having been struck by a train at a level crossing.
“Cumbria Police attended prior to British Transport Police’s arrival on the scene.”
It is understood the incident took place at the Park House Farm level crossing.
